EAA Intervention for Gaza, Lebanon and Gaza Evacuees in Qatar

Background on Gaza Situation

Since 7th October 2023, The Gaza Strip is suffering an unfolding humanitarian catastrophe since the devastating offensive attack resulted to more than 36,000 people have been killed which has laid to waste much of the Gaza Strip, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, with thousands more dead feared lost under the rubble. Education Above All Foundation (EAA), in a concerted effort to find immediate and practical solutions for providing humanitarian support in the Gaza Strip, through its Al Fakhoora programme, and in collaboration with its partners has unveiled unprecedented measures to address the dire crisis in Gaza. In addition, Over 1,500 individuals evacuated by the State of Qatar from the Gaza Strip to Doha, and have been relocated to Al Thumama compound in Qatar. These include children, women, youth, elderly, and individuals with injuries and disabilities, all of whom are survivors of the recent war in Gaza. Education Above All (EAA) aims to provide holistic support to these individuals through targeted interventions that address their immediate and mid-term needs.

The violence and destruction of services in Gaza have left 1.7 million people displaced and 3.1 million people in need. 1 million of them are children. Around 2.2 million people have been affected by the severe lack of water and sanitation services, forcing people to use unclean water and become vulnerable to waterborne diseases. Thousands of children have been cut off from treatment for moderate and severe acute malnutrition in southern Gaza, putting them at risk of death.

Malnourished children are at heightened risk of catching diseases and other health issues due to limited access to safe water, sewage overflow, infrastructure damage, and a lack of hygiene items.

Conditions are simply intolerable and pose long-term threats to the quality of life for children and their families. Please donate to help children in Gaza and across the State of Palestine receive the support they need to survive and grow up healthy.

Background on Lebanon Situation

Growing violence in Lebanon has forced tens of thousands of children and families to flee their homes to seek safety. Since 23 September 2024, hundreds of people have been killed and thousands have been injured. Children in Lebanon are navigating constant threats to their safety and well-being. No child deserves to experience this terror.

We are calling for the de-escalation of hostilities. We also urge all parties to uphold international humanitarian law, including the protection of children, civilians, and medical personnel.

Families in Lebanon need water and hygiene supplies. All schools in Lebanon have been closed and hundreds are being used as shelter.

What are children experiencing in Lebanon?

74,000 children have been displaced from their homes, including those already displaced from Syria.

UNHCR reports that thousands of people are fleeing to Syria due to the airstrikes, a neighboring country.

There are nearly 560 collective shelters, with most of them being public schools.

Children’s learning has been disrupted following the postponement of the new school year and suspension of classes.

32 Primary Health Care Centers in high risk areas have closed, so many children have reduced access to healthcare.
